About Zach
Hello, my name is Zach Zimmerman. I am 14 years old and will be entering San Rafael High as a Freshman in the Fall. I am very passionate about baseball and have been playing since I was four years old. I have played on multiple travel teams and have learned a lot from coaches, teammates, and game experience.
One of my favorite baseball experiences was going to Cooperstown with my travel team during my 12U year, where I played 3rd Base and Pitcher. I am currently a Pitcher and 3rd Baseman for the Marin Baseball travel team.
I love baseball and enjoy helping younger players improve their skills, build confidence, and understand the game better.
The Story
Why I Want to Help Younger Players
When I was younger, I was not always a great player. As I started playing higher-level baseball, I learned how much good coaching, mechanics, and confidence can change the way a player performs.
One experience that made me love teaching was when I visited friends in France and realized they did not have much baseball where they lived. I got one of the kids a mitt and taught him how to throw, field, and catch a fly ball the right way. That experience made me realize how much I enjoy helping younger kids learn baseball.

Skills
Types of Lessons
Pitching
Working on pitching mechanics. For players age 9 or older, lessons may also introduce new types of pitches when appropriate.
Hitting
Working on timing, approach, and mechanics. Hitting lessons usually start with soft toss, then move into regular throwing. The focus is on plate vision, approach, and small mechanical adjustments.
Infield / Outfield
Working on the correct way to throw after catching a fly ball or fielding a ground ball. Players will also work on fielding grounders, getting behind fly balls, and improving overall defensive mechanics.
Catching
Working on one of the most important rules in baseball: watch the ball all the way into the glove. Catchers can also work on receiving, framing, and blocking.
Lesson Planning
Every Lesson Starts With What Your Child Needs
Before each lesson, Zach will ask parents what they think their child needs to work on most. The lesson will then be built around the player's age, skill level, confidence, and current goals.

Progress
A Player Zach Has Helped
Zach is currently working with a young player who, when he started, was still learning proper mechanics for pitching, hitting, and fielding. After making a few small adjustments, he started throwing harder and more accurately.
Over time, he also improved at the plate — going from striking out often to hitting doubles and even his first home run. Watching that improvement in both skills and confidence is one of the reasons Zach wants to help more young players.
